Hi! I am a 20-year old young man with an acquired brain injury, and I am living in my family home on the Island. I am looking to employ bank support workers to join my small team that supports me during the week at home and in the community. I will need you to be flexible enough to be able to cover on days when one of my other support workers is on holiday or off sick, or when my family go off on holiday.
I am mobile but as I am visually impaired, I require a degree of assistance particularly in the community and in any new environment/situation. I undertake various activities during the week and need my support worker to be with me. There is no personal care involved but I have some physical difficulties so support workers will have full training in administering medication when required. I enjoy a range of activities including music, taekwondo, ghost- hunting, swimming and going to the gym, so my bank support worker will need a full driving licence and be able to drive me around in my own car.
My ideal support workers are people who share my interests, who will work with me in a friendly and constructive way, but who recognise my right to independence and will support me to make decisions and problem-solve, focus on my skills and abilities and help me lead a full, rewarding and safe life.
Between 7am and 11pm I will pay my support worker £10.21 per hour on weekdays, and £12.25 per hour at weekends. There may occasionally be some sleeping nights too, and these will be paid at National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage, according to age.
